there was once a world flat as a coin.
1
on one side of the coin lived a people with one math.
2
on the other side of the coin lived a people with the opposite math.
0
the edge of this flat world was called zero, where no-one lived.
1
the first side of the world believed that to give too much was to denigrate oneself. the first side of the world believed that eleven camels plus one host equalled an honored guest with empty hands and no camels. in this world, the selfish were valued twelve times more than the generous. in this world the selfish took from the generous and the generous were denigrated.
2
on the second side of the world it was believed that worth was measured by generosity. on the second side of the world, a man was measured not by what he could take but by what he would give. on the second side of the world men borrowed bread from neighbors to give to other neighbors. on the second side of the world all neighbors knew one another.
on the second side of the world a man who gave eleven camels was twelve times more worthy and valuable than a man who gave none.
on the second side of the world, riches multiplied like bread and fishes.

on the first side of the world, the people fell off the edge, below zero, and died alone.
